China's 105-qubit Zuchongzhi 3.0 claims a larger quantum advantage
Mar 3, 2025
A USTC team led by Jian-Wei Pan reports in Physical Review Letters that its 105-qubit Zuchongzhi 3.0 processor produced a million samples of an 83-qubit random circuit in a few hundred seconds, a task it estimates would take the Frontier supercomputer billions of years.
Why it matters
It put a Chinese chip at the same 105-qubit scale as Google's Willow, though the random sampling benchmark it used has no direct practical use.
